...... to learn new tricks!!
On 3rd January I attended a refresher course on creating sculptured nails at The Beauty Lounge in Doncaster (Brillbird East Midlands).
After originally doing my nail qualifications some 11 years ago I felt I was stuck in a rut with my products & techniques and was interested in trialling the new Brillbird products.
I've always used nail tips for extensions but it's becoming more and more popular for people to have their nails sculpted which creates the nail as a whole thus preventing from losing a tip which has been originally glued on then built up using gel or acrylic.
The evening training session was great, a lovely warm & welcoming environment & Michelle was very patient at demonstrating the products & technique to everyone.
We sculpted 2 nails on ourselves, one square pink & white and one almond/stiletto pink & white.
I felt a little rusty at applying the nail-form to build the nail (after not using this method in excess of around 10 years!) but soon got into the swing of things, and in no way was it perfect, but I was happy (ish) with the end result and thought I would leave them on for as long as I could to test the strength & how well the product coped with my everyday life.
Some 4 weeks later and they are still going strong! (photo attached from this evening)
Albeit looking a little tired from 4 weeks worth of growth / filing people's nails / using acetone / gels etc they are not budging!!!!
I have trialled the product on a few long standing clients too and they are proving to be a success.
I'm glad I opted to go on the course as it gave me the boost I needed to try a different product & method rather than the same I've been using for years ...... and although the old product has served me and my clients very well, I'm no longer afraid to try something different.
Throughout the years I have found that not one product suits everyone so it is good to have a range of options for different nail types.
Now all I need to do is order some new stock (they even do a sparkly pink acrylic!!!!) I just need to stop buying makeup!!!!!!! ❤
